Nelson Mandela Award
The Nelson Mandela Award is awarded to fourth year students on the basis of academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and community involvement. Eligible candidates must demonstrate, through their studies and community involvement, a commitment to promoting peace, justice, citizenship and human rights. This award has been established to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela.

- be a 4th year undergraduate student.
- demonstrate academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and community involvement.
- candidates must demonstrate, through their studies and community involvement, a commitment to promoting peace, justice, citizenship and human rights.

How to Apply:
- New for Fall 2024 / Winter 2025: All in-course awards will be awarded in the Fall term. The application will open Monday September 9, 2024 and close on Friday November 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. Only one application is required. You may apply for multiple awards on one U of T Student Award Application Form. Please be sure to check the award criteria before selecting the award.
Notification of decision:
- Award recipients will receive an award letter by email from the University Registrar’s Office, usually one month after the application deadline.
- The award letter will include information on the award payment and should be kept for future reference.
