Nortel Institute Undergraduate Scholarship
The Nortel Institute Undergraduate Scholarship, with an approximate value of up to $5,000, is awarded to undergraduate students in second or third year in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Toronto Mississauga and University of Toronto Scarborough. Candidates are considered on the basis of financial need, academic merit (minimum CGPA of 3.0) and an essay.
Candidates are also required to demonstrate active involvement in one of the followings:
– research, coursework or work experience involving micro/nanofabrication;
– a proposal for potential student summer research project or capstone project involving micro/nanofabrication.
Eligibility:
Recipient must
- be a Canadian citizen /permanent resident and resident of Ontario;
- be an undergraduate student in second or third year in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Toronto Mississauga or University of Toronto Scarborough and
- demonstrate financial need and academic merit
- Candidates are also required to demonstrate active involvement in one of the followings: -research, coursework or work experience involving micro/nanofabrication; – a proposal for potential student summer research project or capstone project involving micro/nanofabrication.

How to Apply:
- New for Fall 2024 / Winter 2025: All in-course awards will be awarded in the Fall term. The application will open Monday September 9, 2024 and close on Friday November 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. Only one application is required. You may apply for multiple awards on one U of T Student Award Application Form. Please be sure to check the award criteria before selecting the award.
Notification of decision:
- Award recipients will receive an award letter by email from the University Registrar’s Office, usually one month after the application deadline.
- The award letter will include information on the award payment and should be kept for future reference.
